John Cena Will NOT Star In Marine 3... Who Will?

According to the latest reports, it will not be John Cena starring in The Marine 3, but it will be The Miz.

The film was originally supposed to star Randy Orton, but he was pulled from the project due to his background with the military.

The original film, of course, starred John Cena, and the second starred Ted DiBiase, Jr.

New York Post Article On Hulk Hogan

The following is from The New York Post:

Hogan set to lead TNA, says it will 'focus on wrestling'
By ANTHONY SULLA-HEFFINGER

When you think of pro wrestling, you instantly think of Hulk Hogan.

Hogan, a figure who has transcended the sport, has nearly 35 years of experience in the industry.

Naturally, it makes perfect sense that he is the man who is leading the charge in putting TNA Wrestling on the map.

Total Nonstop Action wrestling is currently the only real competition for Vince McMahon’s World Wrestling Entertainment, with Hogan as one of the brand’s central figures. Started in 2002, TNA has become a prevalent brand in the world of professional wrestling and has attracted big name talents such as Sting, Jeff Hardy, Kurt Angle and of course, Hogan himself.

Hogan knows that TNA is still a relative newcomer to the marketplace and turns to the WWE as an example of how building up a brand is similar to how McMahon’s company has built up its superstars.

“The only way I could explain it to you is if I talked about John Cena,” Hogan told The Post. “The WWE has taken about ten years to build up John Cena to that Stone Cold Steve Austin, The Rock-type level. TNA is the same way, we’ve only been around for 10 years. It’s a very young company and to even say that it is competitive and that the WWE has a little less of a presence, that’s a major statement.”

TNA also differentiates itself from the WWE in the sense that it focuses more on the in-ring product and feels out the fans’ reactions rather than viewing itself as an entertainment company and continuing with something that has worked for decades.

“The WWE is doing billions of dollars as a company and focus on the entertainment aspect of things,” Hogan said. “They don’t want to call their talent wrestlers anymore, I get it, but we are focusing on the wrestling and really feeling the vibe. The media and entertainment business moves so fast, we’re almost going shelf to shelf.”

While Hogan wouldn’t explicitly tell The Post what the next move for TNA is, he teased several times that it will be a “momentum-shifting moment” for the industry.

“You can have a wrestling idea, but you need to have these momentum-shifting moves,” Hogan said.

“We had the Hulkamania movement, then it shifted to the beer-drinking, Stone Cold era, we reinvented the business with [Hogan] growing the black beard and becoming the bad guy, what’s that next level. I have this huge monster idea that I am going to throw out there that I really think is going to change the business.”

Hogan’s reputation as one of the premier minds in wrestling precedes him, and he has essentially turned TNA on its head since joining the company in 2009. Since then, Hogan has helped to unveil a new TNA Impact! Zone, featuring a traditional four-sided ring and develop new concepts such as the TNA Fight Night and Gut Check.

TNA Fight Night and Gut Check is part of the brand’s movement to bring in new talent. Fight Night offers one wrestler outside of the brand to wrestle in front of Hogan and a panel of judges. If the wrestler impresses, he or she could land a contract with TNA. Gut Check is an open tryout for the brand as it continually searches for new talent. Hogan said that the response has been incredible and that former WWE superstars Chris Masters and John Morrison have reached out to TNA in hopes of landing a deal.

Despite his past successes, Hogan’s next move appears to be his biggest gamble.
“We are going to give more power to the fans, make them more involved and more important,” Hogan said. “I can’t say much more, but I can say this, I’m either going to be really right on this one or really wrong. If I’m wrong, you probably won’t see me again because I’ll be hightailing it out of here.”

Hogan’s ability to look past the current situation at TNA is important to the overall success of the company as well. Hogan believes rather than using a solution that benefits the brand in the interim, that TNA needs to look to where it wants to be in the future and work backwards from there.

“If you wanted a quick fix, right now, you would put the belt on Jeff Hardy,” Hogan said. “That would fix a bunch of stuff right now, but that is not working backwards from where we need to be. Right now, to work to that point, the belt needs to stay with Bobby Roode. He’s a guy who we are bringing up and is a constant. As we build him up it’s like a volcano that ready to explode.”

TNA isn’t the first time Hogan has gone toe-to-toe with Vince McMahon’s wrestling conglomerate. 15 years ago, during the height of World Championship Wrestling, Hogan was one of the biggest talents for the brand and led one of the most intriguing wrestling storylines when he, along with Scott Hall and Kevin Nash, formed the NWO.

“I remember the last time this build-up happened,” Hogan said. “Vince McMahon had Shawn Michaels dress up as Hulk Hogan with a walker and say ‘You’re getting old brother.’ Then we came with the NWO idea and I feel the same thing now. [The WWE] is banging me on TV again, having The Three Stooges dressing up as me, showing footage of Brock Lesnar beating me last week. They’re worried about something.

“[With WCW,] we were doing three times the numbers [ratings] that WWF was doing back then. We slammed them for a couple of years in the ratings. We had incredible talent and had the two highest rated shows on TNT and TBS at the time.”

Now Hogan plays a different role with TNA as compared to when he was with WCW, shifting from being an in-ring talent, to someone who is more behind the scenes, working with Dixie Carter to improve the brand. Hogan did describe the shift as one of the most difficult ones he’s ever had to make.

“It took me a long time to come to grips with the fact that I can’t be in the ring that much anymore, to set aside that ego, it’s tough,” Hogan said. “But when I look back at the tape and see myself walking out there and wrestling, it isn’t how I want it to be so I had to realize that I shouldn’t be doing that anymore.”

In addition to having Hogan, TNA has a valuable partner in Spike TV, which televises the brand’s flagship program, TNA IMPACT! On Thursday nights.

“[Spike TV] understands the business,” Hogan said. “They know what to expect and are well aware as to how the business works. They’re supportive and are believing in us more and more every day and as we keep rolling forward you’ll see more support. They’re team players and it will help both of us to be open and take that leap of faith.”

With Hogan leading the march, it’s clear that Hulkamania is running wild on the industry once again, building TNA into a wrestling powerhouse.

“I’m excited, I really am,” Hogan said. “If we can get this thing firing on all eight cylinders, get traction and do the right thing, you never know.”

Jim Ross's Reactions To Extreme Rules

The following are quotes from WWE Hall of Famer Jim Ross's blog:

"Aggressive start w/ hard work by Orton and Kane. Orton w/ RKO on chair in the ring does it. Chicago crowd looks/sounds great."

"Say what you want naysayers but Brodus Clay is an athletic big man. Ziggler fans remember...the cream rises to the top."

"Daniel Bryan might be the best, pure, multi talented pro wrestler in WWE right now. If he's not the best, he's close."

"Punk w/ a @ShawnMichaels like elbow off top turnbuckle onto Jericho who was on Spanish announce table. Damn. Heck of a Chicago Street Fight. Punk wins w/ GTS. Excellent match. Physical.
@CMPunk & @IAmJericho especially earned their pay in a big way tonite."

"Layla returns from a LONG physical rehab stint to win the Divas Title in what was essentially a handicap match vs the Bella's."

"Credit also goes to Brock Lesnar in a losing effort. Loved his offense. Cena endured an amazing beating. Both men are legit beasts."

Hulkster Pissed At Sex Tape Pictures

The following is from TMZ.com:
Hulk Hogan
Take My Naked Ass Off the Internet!!!

Hulk Hogan is freaking OUT over screengrabs of his alleged sex tape that have leaked onto the Internet -- and now, the wrestling legend's taking legal action ... sending in his lawyer to clean up the XXX mess.
The black-and-white pics -- which appear to show a naked Hulk doing the nasty with an unidentified female -- surfaced on TheDirty.com last week ... and more pics followed.

But Hulk isn't taking the affront on his knees -- unlike a certain unidentified female -- in fact, his lawyer just fired off a cease and desist letter to TheDirty.com editor Nik Richie, demanding Nik take down the pics forthwith ... or face a lawsuit.

The lawyer writes, "As you know, should a sex tape or photographs of Mr. Bollea exist, they were taken without his consent and therefore the same would constitute a felony in the State of Florida."

We're told Nik and TheDirty.com have no plans to remove the pictures in question. Stay tuned ...

WWE.com Updates Josh Mathews Conditions

The following is from WWE.com:

Josh Mathews recovering after his attack from Brock Lesnar

DETROIT - WWE.com has learned that Josh Mathews is in stable condition following a vicious attack at the hands of Brock Lesnar during Raw SuperShow in Detroit Monday night. Mathews had been interviewing the self-proclaimed "wrecking machine" about his upcoming Extreme Rules contest against John Cena when Lesnar - evidently unhappy with the quality of Mathews' questions - snapped and drove the helpless Mathews through the interview set, leaving him strewn across the backstage area while paramedics rushed to his aid.

"When [Josh] was thrown through the set, he did land and twisted his neck, and he's experiencing some neck stiffness, tightness," said locker room physician Dr. Michael Sampson to WWE.com reporters.

A follow-up MRI confirmed that Mathews suffered nerve damage from the attack, in addition to abrasions and lacerations over his body. Mathews is currently under observation as he recovers from Lesnar's assault.

Given that Lesnar has demanded carte blanche to do what he likes as compensation for his match against Cena, one can only wonder if attacks like this are destined to be the norm in John Laurinaitis' WWE.

Check back with WWE.com for updates on Mathews' condition.

Where Was David Otunga Last Night?

You may or may not have noticed that there was no coffee cup brandishing Harvard lawyer next to Johnny Ace last night on Raw.

David Otunga was given to the night off to be with his fiancee, Oscar-winner Jennifer Hudson. As you may or may not know, Hudson's mother, brother, and nephew were senselessly attacked and killed in their home. Evidence shows that Hudson's sister's ex-husband is the leading suspect and Hudson had to testify in the trial. It is very understandable why Otunga was given the night off, and we here at WrestleRap hope that justice will be served for the Hudson family, and ours thoughts and condolences are with them.

WWE Superstars React To Brock Lesnar

The following is from WWE.com:
Brock's controversial words draw strong reactions from Superstars past and present
BY TOM HERRERA AND JAMES WORTMAN
April 19, 2012

Brock Lesnar minces his opponents, but he doesn't mince words. Time and time again, he's shown he can be as ruthless with his verbal jabs as he is with his fists in the heat of competition.

Still, what Brock said during a WWE interview on Raw SuperShow came as a shock. The short-fused Superstar really let loose on some pressing topics, including his return to WWE and his true feelings about John Cena, his opponent at Extreme Rules (PREVIEW). When he was through, the entire WWE was left to absorb the impact of his controversial words – and that includes past and present Superstars who have been there to witness Brock's path of destruction both then and now.

In a series of exclusive interviews, WWE.com gauged the reactions to what Lesnar had to say on Raw, especially his bold claim that Cena would've never risen to stardom if Brock had remained in WWE. Or to put it in Brock's own words: "Cena's the guy that would be carrying my bags into the building." What did those who were around for both Brock's departure and Cena's ascension eight years ago think about Brock's comments?

Booker T, one of the Superstars who performed at both WrestleMania XIX and WrestleMania XX along with Brock, didn't agree with Lesnar's statement at all. The former World Heavyweight Champion believes that the landscape of WWE wouldn't have been any different if Brock had stayed.

"There's only one chief around here, and we all know who that is. I don't think one Superstar in WWE determines what goes on," Booker said. "I remember a promoter telling me a long time ago ... Years later, I now understand exactly what he was saying. He said: 'One monkey don't stop no show.' And that pretty much sums it up right there."

The former champion cited the old saying (and title of Goodie Mob's rap album in 2004) about the absence of one not causing the show to stop. Booker's former tag team partner, Dustin Rhodes, shared that opinion in his comments to WWE.com, but admitted Brock was right about one thing: "He's not an entertainer. He's a double-tough, ass-kicking machine."

"Whether you like him or hate him, you respect John Cena. He works his ass off day in and day out more than anybody else in this locker room, on the roster, period," Rhodes passionately explained. "What Brock said about Cena, I find that a bit distasteful. I don't believe for a second that if Brock didn't leave eight years ago that Cena wouldn't be where he's at today. I think that's bull.

"John Cena was destined to be a star."

Not everyone was totally convinced Cena and Brock could've coexisted in WWE all these years, however. Superstar and NXT commentator William Regal said that while it may not make him a popular man, he's inclined to believe everything that comes out of Lesnar's mouth.

"There's no way that things would be the way they are if Brock had never left. I'm not saying that Cena wouldn't be the huge star that he is, but there's not room for two of them in the same universe," Regal said. "You can't have two people with that incredible ability, strength, desire, passion, and that Elvis quality – which is that magic quality that you only come across once in a million. And they've both got it. Usually, one fella has got to go, because when they collide, that's the way it plays out."

Now, nine years since they last collided at Backlash in 2003, Brock is back and he's painted a giant bull's-eye on Cena in his mission to "legitimize" WWE, as Lesnar put it in that revealing interview. To Regal, what makes Lesnar's return so disconcerting is that he's not motivated by anything else other than the unbreakable will to bring the pain – and dominate.

"He's not coming back for the money. He doesn't need to come back for the fame, because he couldn't care less about the fame. That makes him a scary man," Regal said. "There's only one reason he's here and that's to prove he's more dominant than anybody else. And that means you need to worry."

Clearly, the onus is on Cena at Extreme Rules to stop Brock in his tracks before he charges to the top, and the Cenation leader has vehemently promised to fight, fight, fight all the way. WWE commentator Matt Striker, who may not have been in WWE in 2003 but closely followed Cena's meteoric rise, thinks the real challenge for John will be to adapt to Brock's brutal nature, but he's confident the 10-Time WWE Champion will be up to the daunting task.

"I think it's safe to say Brock is the most legitimate, most dangerous ass-kicker WWE has ever seen, and the one person that now really needs to reinvent himself and relearn his craft is Cena," Striker said. "Brock is not here to use armdrags and dropkicks. Brock is here to punch you in the face and snap your bones. We need to see what Cena is made of, and I believe at Extreme Rules, the whole world will find out."

With no disqualifications and no count-outs preventing Brock and Cena from smashing each other to bits, Lesnar's biting words will pale in comparison to the punishment to come. And if you believe in fate and destiny like Striker does, this undoubtedly is a rematch nearly a decade in the making.

"I think Brock was supposed to leave. Cena was supposed to rise to the great heights he's reached. I just think that all of this is the planets aligning," Striker said. "This had to happen on April 29, 2012. It couldn't have happened a day before or a day after. It has to be Brock Lesnar versus John Cena, and it has to be done this way."

Backstage Problems With Lesnar/Cena?

Wade Keller of PWTorch is reporting that there may have been, and even may still be real life tension between John Cena and Brock Lesnar. He says that Lesnar may have played "political" and tried to undermine Cena's rise to fame. He also cites the following match as proof and points out a lot of rough working. Is it a rookie being a "greenhorn" or could it be Lesnar deliberately trying to make Cena look bad?

Scott Hall In Trouble Again

The following is from TMZ.com:

Wrestling legend Scott Hall was arrested Friday after allegedly choking out his girlfriend in a drunken fit of rage -- this according to the arrest report, obtained by TMZ.According to the report, cops were called to Scott's Florida home over a domestic disturbance in progress around 5pm. When they arrived, Scott's GF Lisa Howell informed police he had attacked her.According to Lisa, Scott had been drinking for days and the two had gotten into some kind of argument. Lisa says she got into her car, and in a blind rage, Scott grabbed her by the throat and tried to pull her out of the driver's seat.According to the report, police confronted Scott -- who appeared heavily intoxicated with an "unknown white secretion flowing from both sides of his mouth" -- but he denied ever getting violent.Police observed several signs of physical injury on Lisa -- including red marks around her neck -- so they placed Scott under arrest for domestic battery.Scott -- billed at 6'7" and 287 pounds -- required TWO sets of handcuffs. But his problems didn't end there -- according to the report, Scott was so drunk ... the jail refused to book him ... so the arresting officer had to drag him to a nearby hospital to get medical clearance. The physicians gave their thumbs up and Scott was brought back to the correctional facility, where he was finally booked on the domestic violence charge.Lisa has refused to press charges. So far, it's unclear if the case will move forward.
